The Melbourne Breastfeeding Clinic
The Clinic was established in 1986. Dr Pakula provides a completely personal service to mothers and babies who are experiencing difficulty breastfeeding.
Consultations are conducted in Dr Pakula's home, but home visits are available in the immediate area. Follow up phone calls and emails are part of the service and are free of charge.
A first consultation generally lasts 90 minutes, subsequent consultations are shorter, as are those with older babies. Fee is around $180, less for shorter consults, more for home visits.
No payment is taken on the day; an account is emailed and is largely covered by Medicare.
DR SHYRLA PAKULA
Dr Pakula is a mother, grandmother, doctor and lactation consultant who understands the issues surrounding breastfeeding difficulties. She is not 'The Breastfeeding Fascist' who believes that ALL babies MUST be breastfed at ANY cost. She believes in looking at the 'big picture' and helping mothers and babies achieve a happy breastfeeding relationship if possible.
